Part 6: Other oddities

There are other messages with plagiarism, but overall a lot of the messages until 1990 seem to be either copying or paraphrasing the Blue Book.  After 1990 some unique phrases from the BB continue to be used in the Angüera messages, like "Red Dragon", "smoke of Satan", "times worse than the flood" , "times that I have foretold", "your names are written".  Some messages sound like someone giving a quick summary of the Blue Book, which is primarily about the Church undergoing a "Great Tribulation" with the final triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Our Lady.

I also noticed other oddities:

8 – Message from Our Lady Queen of Peace, transmitted on 12/5/1987

My dear children. I cry because of the sins of each one of you. I cry also because of the crimes committed by mothers who abort their children. This is a great sin. A child who did not ask to be born is murdered by its own mother, what an ugly thing!...

Aborted children are not born. This is not a translation error, the original Portuguese uses "born" as well. Again, Our Lady is precise with her words, not like this.

859 - Message of Our Lady, Queen of Peace, transmitted on 08/10/1994

Dear children: Defend with courage the Gospel of my Jesus and be with your lives a living presence of the Church, One, Holy, Catholic and Roman Apostolic...

A MAJOR error in my view. It is "One Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church". While the majority of Catholics in the world are Roman Catholics (Latin Rite), they are not the only Catholics. In fact, few Roman Catholics know that there are other legitimate Catholic Churches (also known as Rites) under the same Pope, like Byzantine Catholics, Maronite Catholics and even the newest Catholics, Eritrean Catholics, whose Church was added in 2015. You may attend Mass and receive communion in any of the Catholic Churches.  (For more info, check out this great series on the different rites.) The Catholic Church is a legitimately diverse church with many Catholic cultures and languages. Our Lady would know this, especially as some of the Catholic Churches preserve the language that Jesus and Our Lady would have spoken, Aramaic.

1,995 – Message from Our Lady Queen of Peace, transmitted in 1/1/2002

...Bend your knees in prayer, for only in this way will you contribute to the final triumph of My Immaculate Heart. The prophecy that I announced to you last year (message of 1 Jan. 2001) was fulfilled in the sad happening in the United States.

But the message of January 1, 2001 is generic, not at all like the more specific predictions made later on. (There is no official English translation, so I had to translate the Portuguese).

...When you feel the weight of difficulties, call on Jesus. He is your everything and without Him you can do nothing. This year many will weep because a great treasure will be taken from among you. Be firm. Pray. Do not turn away from prayer. Those who are with the Lord will never be put to shame. Go forward without fear...

I'm a born and raised New Yorker, and I am old enough to remember the horrific attacks of 9/11. While I loved seeing the Twin Towers on the skyline, I'm not sure I would think of them as a great treasure of the world and I don't think Our Lady would either. I almost lost my father in that tragedy and I think She too would probably see the great treasure as the lives lost, not the building. But this prediction is in the singular: "a" great treasure, not great treasures. It's also a message that's pretty generic. You can make this same prediction about every year.

Also after 1990, the messages sound different. They turn Medjugorje-ish, with a forumlaic greeting, short message, and closing. Not that there is anything bad about the messages of Medjugorje (although I lean towards not believing in them. I'll wait and see). But if Marian messages were sandwiches, the Angüera messages after 1990 to about 2005 are Nutella sandwiches. They won't kill you, but they won't fully nourish you either. You'll always be a little hungry soon after consuming them. This is how I feel when I read the messages of Pedro Regis after 1990. The words are good, but the messages are repetitive. They seem like there are maybe 30-50 sentences rearranged in various ways.

Again not terrible, especially if we as humans are not listening to Our Lady, but compare that to the complex messages of  Our Lady of Kibeho*, which is Vatican approved (for the first three seers only) and were occurring at the same time as Angüera (and Medjugorje).

*I actually prefer the book "If Only We Had Listened: Messages from Kibeho" which is a collection of messages from Kibeho, but I can't find a free link for it.

After 2005 is when tons of predictions start, some of which, have in fact come true. But the predictions also require interpretation, so it could be possible that my own bias is entering when interpreting them. Regardless, while making correct predictions is impressive, it doesn't make the messages authentic. "Psychic" mediums make predictions all the time.
